All schooling does at least three things: (1) shape character (virtue) (2) shapes the mind and intellect, and (3) prepare children to be members of a larger community.

The government schools have shown themselves to do all three (and much more) badly. If you need any reasons to avoid government controlled schooling it is this, it does all these poorly.
